FAQ: Questions About LPV?
Q--What does Lycée Portes Vertes mean?
A--Lycée Portes Vertes is French for the "Green Doors School." It signifies open doors to learning, whether into a beautiful, protected courtyard or out to the hustle and bustle of the street. Either scenario is an optimum situation for learning at certain times in our lives. The color green is also symbolic, since it is the color of life, rebirth, regeneration, growth, and nature. LPV has a personal meaning for me (Bonnie), because I found a love and depth of learning while I was a student in Paris. I hope LPV will be an open door to rebirth, regeneration, and growth for many mentors.
Q--Why "A Private School for Mentors"?
A--Mentors have a profound effect on the education of children and youth. If educators are prepared to be true mentors, the next generation will be inspired and able to accomplish their purpose.
Q--What is Cultural Education?
A--Cultural Education is education with a foundation of history and humanities at its center. It does not ignore or downplay technology, math, or science, but introduces and teaches them as they grow out of a cultural and historical framework.
